What are some of the ways you used flex schedules to your company’s advantage?
At Sage, we designed our Flexible Human Work Framework to help drive high employee performance by promoting four fundamental principles; customer-centric performance, human connection, fairness & trust, and courageous experimentation. Our approach to working flexibly is core to our culture and we recognize the point of difference it makes for us as an employer with regard to how well we can continue to engage with top talent in the market. We recently introduced a policy within our flexible framework, that enables employees to work anywhere for up to ten weeks per year. This has enabled employees to do anything, from seeing friends and family on the other side of the world to working abroad in order to brush up on a new language. Our colleagues feel supported to thrive, as they are afforded great flexibility which in turn, enhances their well-being and their maintenance of a good work/life balance. This has greatly helped engagement, driven employee loyalty, and further enhanced job satisfaction the outcome of which, for us as a business, has been the ability to scale and further invest in providing exceptional service to our customers.
Have flex schedules fundamentally changed the way businesses operate?
Yes! At Sage, as a result of flex schedules, teams have had to purposefully think about how best to navigate the time and place dynamic— where and when do we work, when do colleagues come together to collaborate, and when are they apart? Different colleagues are motivated by different ways of working and we have found that there are teams that thrive when they work virtually, and others when they come together. We no longer subscribe to a traditional 9 to 5 schedule or interact with team members as we did. Therefore, the flexibility we offer is giving people more opportunity to manage themselves and own their development, which in turn is also shaping the way we think. Our success is driven by innovation and experimentation and when/how we can get the best productivity in these areas, now with semi-remote teams – but it works!Sage has had to re-invent its culture to include cornerstones such as trust and being bold all of which have proven key when moving to a highly flexible working model. These values help guide and empower our teams when in a more remote working setup. Sage is committed to knocking down barriers so that people can thrive, and our flexible framework has changed the way teams collaborate and has therefore changed the way they innovate.

What are some of the ways you used flex schedules to your company’s advantage?
At Clearcover, we emphasize a people-first approach, and Summer Flex hours help us align with our values and accomplish our goals. This program aims to improve employee morale and provide greater work-life balance. As a result, employees we surveyed reported they are happier, more productive and invested in the long-term success of our company. Knowing they can use the flexible time on Fridays to focus on their work without the busy schedules of meetings, make personal appointments and have some flex time for fun, serves as an incentive to keep employees more engaged and productive throughout the rest of the week.
Have flex schedules fundamentally changed the way businesses operate?
Employees at Clearcover (our Clearcover-ers”) have developed their prioritization skills and eliminated unnecessary meetings from their schedule in an effort to free up some time on Fridays. New research studies show that overscheduling meetings can foster disengagement and thus job dissatisfaction, unproductivity and overall turnover. Clearcover’s Summer Flex program has helped us combat this workplace struggle while also aligning with our people-first values.

What are some of the ways you used flex schedules to your company’s advantage?
“Simplus has been remote and supportive of flexible work schedules from the start, long before pandemic made it a necessity for many businesses. And that was a strategic, deliberate choice: by supporting flex schedules so well we’ve always had a larger talent pool to consider and recruit from, which has given us tremendous employees and really leveled up our delivery excellence. And just as we have employees of various backgrounds, skillsets, and schedule availabilities, we have customers with that same variety as well. So having the mix on both sides is really great because it means time zones and regions no longer stop business. We have team members in every situation and availabilities at every hour of the global workday to support our various client needs more seamlessly.” — Marcy Chanin, Simplus Chief Delivery Officer
Have flex schedules fundamentally changed the way businesses operate?
“Flexible schedules have absolutely changed the way businesses operate and the way businesses view their partner and customer relationships. The net is so much wider now with more businesses comfortable branching out beyond certain geographic regions or time zones. With these changes, companies have had to make more investments in the best digital tools to bridge the gap of not having the usual in-person syncs or communication to depend on. We’ve seen this firsthand at Simplus with an increased amount of companies seeking cloud-based transformations to scale their company and support a more dispersed workforce that operates from a single source of truth. It’s been incredible to see that influx really take off in the past two years.” — Marcy Chanin, Simplus Chief Delivery Officer
