Looking for today’s Wordle answer? We’ve got Wordle hints first, then today’s answer for NYT Wordle No. 1,937 on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026.
Today’s word has mostly common letters, but it might still be a struggle, since it’s not the most common word. And if you’re an ADIEU or AUDIO guesser who wants to get all the vowels before you start in on the consonants, you may be surprised at what you find. There’s only one vowel here, although it’s not just the most commonly used vowel, it’s the most common letter in the alphabet, so you should guess it early. Scroll slowly if you want to solve it yourself.
CNET publishes daily answers and hints for The New York Times Mini Crossword, Connections, Connections: Sports Edition and Strands puzzles. And here’s a page that Wordle players should be sure to bookmark. We’ve made a list, with help from the Oxford English Dictionary, showing which letters show up the most in English words. So if your starter word isn’t getting the job done, consider switching to one of the words that uses more of the highly ranked letters. (I like TRAIN and CLOSE.)

Let’s talk about today’s Wordle answer
I began with TRAIN and CLOSE as usual, and that landed me four of the five letters, including the lone vowel.
But Wordle had one tricky problem today: There’s at least one word other than the answer that uses STRE — “STREP” also qualifies. I lucked out and guessed the right answer, but I can imagine players becoming frustrated when STREP wasn’t the answer and the real answer just didn’t come to mind.
